Days after Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin sparked controversy for making double-meaning remarks on Trisha, another opposition leader has triggered a row over remarks on the actor, who is a friend of Chief Minister Vijay. In a viral video, AIADMK leader and former minister RB Udhayakumar mocked Vijay and made a reference to Trisha, asking when will the actor be made the state's Deputy Chief Minister. "Tamil Nadu awaits to see when Vijay's Trisha will be appointed as Deputy Chief Minister," he said. Read Full Story He alleged that the TVK government was appointing people close to Vijay to key positions, including producers and technical crew members who had worked with the actor in his films.
Udhayakumar listed several appointments, including those to the posts of temple trustee, the Tamil Nadu government's special representative in New Delhi, Vijay's personal secretary, head of the state film training institute and government advisors. His remarks triggered protests from Trisha's fans in Madurai as well as criticism from TVK functionaries. Condemnation posters were put up across parts of Madurai, by members of the Trisha Fans' Welfare Association. The posters warned that Trisha's fans would not tolerate such comments and would be forced to protest across Tamil Nadu. A TVK functionary also filed a complaint with the Tuticorin district police seeking action against Udhayakumar for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Trisha.
UDHAYANIDHI STALIN'S REMARKS ON TRISHA The latest controversy comes days after Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of DMK chief MK Stalin, was arrested and questioned by police in Thanjavur for making double-meaning remarks referring to Trisha. Udhayanidhi was arrested after S Bairavi, a TVK Central District Women's Wing organiser, filed a complaint at Thanjavur East Police Station over the remarks he made at an anti-Cauvery protest meeting in Thanjavur on August 3. He was later taken to Sengipatti police station, where he was questioned for about an hour before being released on station bail. The arrest and questioning triggered a high-drama political confrontation, with Udhayanidhi Stalin later rejecting the allegation.
After his release, Udhayanidhi said he had made a "single-meaning" remark while demanding Cauvery water for Tamil Nadu. He also alleged that his comments had been distorted using a "cut, copy, paste" method and claimed he was treated "like a terrorist". TVK leader and Minister Aadhav Arjuna had defended the police action, saying tough action would be taken against anyone making comments against women. Ends (with inputs from PTI)
