Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah called on senior Congress MLAs H.C. Mahadevappa, K. Venkatesh and Tanveer Sait in Mysuru on Tuesday, seeking their cooperation and guidance in discharging his responsibilities. Yathindra arrived at the Government Guest House in Mysuru while the three senior Congress MLAs, believed to be upset over their exclusion from the Cabinet, were holding a meeting to chart their future course of action. The meeting of the disgruntled MLAs coincided with a programme organised by the Mysuru City and District Congress Committee to mark former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s 79th birthday.
Yathindra said he had planned to meet the senior MLAs at their residences to seek their guidance and blessings. “I was not aware of their meeting, but when I telephoned, I was asked to come here,” he told reporters after meeting the senior MLAs at the Government Guest House. The Urban Development Minister said he wanted to meet the senior MLAs and seek their guidance for the development of Mysuru, as the Minister in-charge of the district. Yathindra rejected suggestions that the senior MLAs were upset over missing a Cabinet berth in the Ministry and said all of them had the eligibility to become Ministers.
All of them had assured him of their cooperation and guidance, besides expressing happiness over his inclusion in the Cabinet, he said. Khader expresses hope Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader, who was also in Mysuru on Tuesday to attend the programme marking former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s 79th birthday, expressed hope that Tanveer Sait’s good time would come in the future. He said Mr. Sait, a senior politician, was qualified to become a Minister. Four positions had already been given to members of the minority community, he said.
He added that people from Mysuru had always been willing to make sacrifices, pointing to Mr. Siddaramaiah’s resignation from the Chief Minister’s post after he was asked to step down. “He resigned just a day after being asked to give up the Chief Minister’s position. Leaders such as Sonia Gandhi have even given up the Prime Minister’s post,” he said.
