A CVoter snap poll surveying Indian youth aged 18 to 35 reveals key trends in youth political preferences following protests at Jantar Mantar and Ranchi. According to the data, 53 percent of overall respondents, including 56.8 percent of NDA supporters and 51.7 percent of opposition voters, identify employment, education, and healthcare as their top electoral issues, ranking them above corruption and inflation.
On deciding their vote, 33.3 percent prioritised issue-based politics over leader, party, candidate, or caste affiliations, with only 20 percent basing decisions primarily on the leader. Additionally, 49.3 percent of respondents stated that social media plays a major role in shaping their political views, including 53.2 percent of NDA voters and 48.3 percent of opposition supporters. Panelists, including political representatives from the BJP and Congress, discussed these findings, highlighting the shift toward bread-and-butter concerns among young voters across traditional political divides.
