New Delhi: The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has launched an investigation into an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi that experienced a sudden altitude variation of around 300 feet during cruise, leaving 20 passengers and four cabin crew members injured.
Air India flight AI 2379, operated by an Airbus A320 registered as VT-EXO, encountered the sudden change in altitude on August 4. The aircraft subsequently stabilised and landed safely in Delhi, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said on Tuesday. The injuries were reported during the altitude variation. The AAIB took up the investigation based on information received from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the nature of the incident. The bureau said the probe is being conducted under applicable Indian regulations and International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) protocols, with the required notifications sent to ICAO and the concerned countries.
