A delegation of Members of Parliament from Karnataka’s Kalyana Karnataka region, led by Radhakrishna Doddamani, Kalaburagi MP, met Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju to request major developmental projects under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) for minority-concentrated areas in the State. The delegation included MPs G. Kumar Naik (Raichur), Prabha Mallikarjun (Davangere), E. Tukaram (Ballari), and Rajashekar Hitnal (Koppal). During the meeting, they submitted a comprehensive representation highlighting the critical need for targeted infrastructure, education, healthcare, and livelihood interventions across the region’s minority-heavy blocks and urban local bodies.
The delegation emphasised that Kalyana Karnataka remained historically underserved despite holding special constitutional status under Article 371(J). They urged the Ministry to roll out focused interventions across seven key districts: Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Ballari, and Vijayanagara. Among the specific proposals submitted under the PMJVK framework were the construction of new school buildings, additional classrooms, hostels, Industrial Training Institutes, polytechnics, and dedicated skill-development centres; the establishment and the upgrading of Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres, and specialised maternal and child healthcare facilities; provisions for safe drinking water projects, all-weather connectivity roads, improved sanitation systems, community halls, and modernised anganwadi centres; and tailored vocational training, youth skill acquisition, and entrepreneurship programmes designed specifically for minority women and the youth.
The delegation requested Mr. Rijiju to direct Ministry officials to examine the regional proposals favourably and expedite financial sanctions under PMJVK. The MPs expressed confidence
that approving these infrastructure and social welfare projects would significantly bridge developmental gaps and help boost education, healthcare, and employment outcomes across Kalyana Karnataka.
