Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials have recovered and returned a gold chain (Mangalasutram) worth approximately ₹3 lakh to a passenger who inadvertently left it behind on a train in Tirupati on Tuesday (August 11, 2026). According to the RPF team, a Rail Madad complaint was received from M. Kavitha and her husband M.
Chiranjeevi, residents of Darsi, Prakasam district, stating that she had inadvertently left her gold chain underneath the pillow on berth no. 20 of B-2 coach of train No. 17261 (Guntur–Tirupati) Express on Monday (August 10). Under the supervision of Tirupati RPF Inspector M. Sandeep Kumar, a team swung into action and conducted a thorough search of the concerned coach in the Tirupati Yard.
During the search, the gold chain was found underneath the pillow on the same berth. The recovered ornament, weighing approximately 24 grams, was secured safely and the passenger was informed accordingly. After completing her darshan at the holy shrine of Tirumala, the woman passenger along with her husband approached RPF Post on Tuesday.
After completion of necessary verification and formalities, the gold chain was handed over to the passenger and her husband, who expressed their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the swift response, dedicated efforts and immediate action in restoring their valuable ornament.
