Sir Gareth Southgate has said apprenticeships âhave become a dirty wordâ as he looks to tackle the issues facing young men when it comes to education and work.
Speaking to the Today programme about his new documentary, 'Changing the Game for Young Men', the former England menâs football manager said the issue is âcomplexâ and pointed out that a lack of positive male role models can lead to boys looking elsewhere for guidance.
Sir Gareth also talked about the lack of vocational skills offered to those looking for less academic careers and said that a lot of young people are unable to gain the âwork readinessâ skills employers look for due to a decline in casual jobs.
