(Image: X) The high-profile wedding reception of NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule’s daughter on Monday night offered a rare political sight as Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi were seen in the same frame.
The two leaders, who have frequently been at odds on the political front, were pictured standing just a few feet apart at the reception of Revati Sule. While Shah stood with his arms behind his back, awaiting his turn, Rahul Gandhi was seen nearby. As Amit Shah approached the stage, Supriya Sule gestured for the Home Minister to go ahead. With his hands folded in a namaste, Shah joined the newlyweds, who sought his blessings by touching his feet. He then presented the couple with a bouquet as photographers captured the moment. Soon after, Rahul Gandhi arrived with his mother Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi, accompanied by Sule.
While greeting guests on stage, Sonia Gandhi moved towards the far end. Sule then guided her back beside the newlyweds and positioned Rahul Gandhi next to the couple, before stepping aside herself. The gathering at 6 Janpath in Delhi brought together leaders cutting across political lines, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and NCP leader Praful Patel. Revati Sule married Nagpur-based industrialist Sarang Lakhani in Mumbai in June. The Delhi reception was organised as a grand celebration following their wedding.
