Indian cricketer Abhishek Porel, who plays for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, has been remanded to three days of police custody by the Hooghly District Court following allegations of rape and sexual assault. The arrest comes after a medical student lodged a complaint at Mogra Police Station, alleging that Porel engaged in a sexual relationship with her on the promise of marriage and secretly recorded intimate moments.
The Calcutta High Court ordered the arrest to prevent the circulation of photographs and directed police to seize Porel's electronic devices.
