A total shutdown was observed in Ranchi following a call for a statewide shutdown in Jharkhand to protest police action against demonstrating students. Protesters were intercepted by security personnel while attempting to march towards the legislative assembly, leading to several detentions. Demonstrations saw roads blocked and burning tyres on key routes, disrupting normal life across parts of the capital.
The agitation stems from ongoing student demands regarding transparency, cancellation, and independent investigations into competitive examinations, including state recruitment tests.
