A second Sudanese national has been admitted to the Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad and placed in isolation after developing fever while under quarantine, hospital authorities said on Friday, June 5. The patient is undergoing evaluation and testing for Ebola as a precautionary measure.
The development comes a day after another Sudanese traveller was isolated following detection of fever during thermal screening at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), triggering concerns over a possible Ebola infection.
Speaking to The Hindu, Dr. Vamshi Krishna, Nodal Officer for Ebola at Gandhi Hospital, clarified that only two individuals are currently under observation at the hospital, contrary to some media reports claiming that three persons had been isolated.
“There are only two patients.
The third person being referred to in some reports is an attendant who was identified as a contact of the second patient.
