Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju held meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla regarding the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) bill. The central government is conducting discussions with opposition parties to achieve a consensus on the legislation. If consensus is reached, the FCRA bill could be referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for further examination.
Concerns over the bill have been expressed by opposition parties and select North-Eastern states. The government aims to build trust while engaging with political parties ahead of discussions on the delimitation bill.
