Prayagraj News: The youngest son of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, Abaan Ahmed, was laid to rest in Prayagraj on Saturday, August 8, two days after he died in a road accident on the Jhansi-Kanpur highway. Aban, Atiq Ahmed’s fifth and youngest son, died along with another person after the Creta car they were travelling in crashed on the highway on the morning of August 6. His elder brothers, Mohammad Umar and Ali Ahmed, who are lodged in jails in Jhansi and Lucknow respectively, were granted custody parole by the Allahabad High Court so they could attend their brother’s funeral. The brothers later returned to jail under tight security after taking part in the burial. Abaan Died In Jhansi-Kanpur Highway Crash The accident took place at around 10:30 am on Thursday, August 6. Five people were travelling in the Creta when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle at high speed and crashed into a divider.

Abaan and another occupant, identified as Sonu, died in the accident. Three others — Jahad, Umar and Ahjam — sustained injuries and were admitted to Medical College Jhansi. Their condition was reported to be normal. At the time of the accident, the identities of those involved were not immediately known. Police personnel who reached the spot were initially unaware that one of the deceased was Atiq Ahmed’s youngest son. The identities emerged as the investigation and identification process progressed. Police conducted post-mortem examinations before handing over the bodies to the respective families. Why Was Abaan Buried Two Days Later? Although Abaan died on August 6, his burial took place on August 8. The delay was linked to the time required for his elder brothers, who were in jail, to obtain permission to attend the funeral. Mohammad Umar and Ali Ahmed were subsequently released from jail on custody parole granted by the Allahabad High Court to enable them to attend the last rites. They travelled to Prayagraj under heavy security and joined other family members for the burial. Umar Leads Funeral Prayer For Abaan One of the most notable moments during the funeral was when Mohammad Umar led the funeral prayer for Abaan. A video of the prayer later circulated on social media, showing Umar offering the prayer while handcuffed, with a police officer standing nearby. Umar is seen standing in front of his younger brother’s grave and reciting the prayer.
