(Photos: Social Media) The search for 31-year-old cybersecurity professional Advait Upadhyay, who went missing after trekking at Shivagange Hills in Karnataka’s Bengaluru Rural district, entered its fifth day on Tuesday, with search teams reporting a potentially significant development. According to a report by The Times of India (TOI), high-resolution drones deployed during the search operation captured what appeared to be a body trapped amid dense vegetation at the base of Shantala Drop, one of the steepest and most dangerous cliff points at Shivagange. However, the suspected sighting has not yet been verified. The report mentioned that persistent rain, slippery rocks and the treacherous terrain prevented rescue personnel from reaching the location to establish whether the object spotted by the drones was indeed Upadhyay.

Nearly 100 personnel from the Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), forest department and police were involved in the search operation, with teams scouring the difficult slopes and inaccessible portions of Shivagange Hills. Advait Went Missing After Trekking At Shivagange Upadhyay, a native of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, was residing in Bengaluru’s Kadugodi area and worked for a finance firm in Whitefield. Police said he had informed his fiancée about his plan to trek at Shivagange and had hired a motorcycle for the trip. According to news agency PTI, he reached the hill around 6.30 am on Friday, August 7, parked his rented bike at the foothills and proceeded uphill. CCTV footage examined by police showed Upadhyay climbing the hills, but there was no subsequent update about his whereabouts. His mobile phone was also found to be switched off. Following a complaint, a missing-person case was registered at Kadugodi police station, and an extensive search operation was launched at Shivagange and its vicinity. Police Examine All Possible Angles Upadhyay’s family had suspected that he could have been abducted and harmed by robbers, particularly because he was alone, PTI reported.
