According to the police, all seven had entered India legally on Double Entry Visas, which allowed them to stay in the country for a maximum of 15 days per visit.

However, verification of their passports, visas and immigration records showed that they had remained in India beyond the permitted period without obtaining an extension or other authorisation. As part of Operation VISTA 1.0, the AATS team conducted verification drives at hotels, guest houses and other establishments accommodating foreign nationals in Central Delhi. During patrolling in the Nabi Karim area, police received information about Bangladeshi nationals allegedly staying in Delhi after the expiry of their permitted period. One of the individuals, identified as MD Nazrul Islam Foisal, 26, was apprehended and questioned. Police said he produced his Bangladeshi passport, which showed that it had been issued on February 8, 2026, while his authorised stay in India was valid only until August 7. During questioning, Foisal allegedly told police that other Bangladeshi nationals were also staying in Delhi after exceeding their permitted period. Acting on the information, police teams carried out further verification in South Delhi. Four of the Bangladeshi nationals were found in Madanpur Khadar, Sarita Vihar, while two others were located at Flat No. 61 near the Institutional Area, Indane Gas Agency, Janta Flats, Sarita Vihar, according to the police.
