A woman municipal councillor and her mother-in-law were allegedly stabbed by her father-in-law at Palachuvad near Piravom on Monday. Christy John, 32, the councillor of Ward 14 of Piravom municipality, and her mother-in-law, Lissy, were allegedly attacked by Joy Punnattukuzhiyil at their house.
The Piravom police took Joy into custody. John sustained injuries on her abdomen and Ms. Lissy on her wrist. According to the first information report, Joy attacked his daughter-in-law as she used to question him for physically assaulting Ms. Lissy.
The injured were admitted to the Medical College Hospital, Kottayam. Joy has been charged with attempt to murder.
