In an interview with India Today, Babulal Marandi, the Leader of Opposition in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly and former Chief Minister of the state, addressed the ongoing student agitation regarding alleged recruitment irregularities in JSSC and JPSC examinations. Marandi criticized the state government for using lathi-charge and tear gas against peacefully protesting candidates who have been demanding a probe into the alleged sale of public employment posts.
He insisted on a court-monitored Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry, arguing that state agencies like the CID and Anti Corruption Bureau have lost public trust due to frequent team reshuffles and delayed charge sheets. Marandi stated, 'अदालत की निगरानी में आप CBI जांच कराइए' (Conduct a CBI probe under court supervision), asserting that an independent investigation would punish guilty officials while clearing innocent candidates.
Rejecting claims by the ruling coalition that the BJP is taking political advantage, Marandi emphasized that unpunished bribery in recruitments would entrench corruption in Jharkhand's governance for decades.
