Ranchi Student Protest Debate: Will Soren Government Listen Or Let Lathis Speak?
A political debate erupted following police action on students protesting in Ranchi over alleged exam paper leaks and seat selling in JPSC and JSSC examinations
A political debate erupted following police action on students protesting in Ranchi over alleged exam paper leaks and seat selling in JPSC and JSSC examinations. Protesting students faced water cannons, tear gas, and lathi charge while demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation enquiry and cancellation of the examinations. Student representatives alleged systemic corruption, stating that exam seats were continuously sold and admit cards were issued to non-candidates.
BJP representatives criticized the state government for police brutality against peaceful student protesters and demanded a central investigation into the exam irregularities. In response, Congress representatives defended the state administration, highlighting that the Public Service Commission chairperson and twenty others were arrested, three officials resigned, and the examination was canceled. They further contended that state authorities acknowledged student concerns and initiated dialogue, contrasting the incident with student protests in Delhi.
The debate highlighted ongoing political friction over police restraint, administrative accountability, and the future of student protesters in Jharkhand.
