A Delhi woman undertaking the annual Kanwar pilgrimage gave birth to twin boys at a district hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar, bringing an emotional moment of joy to the ongoing Sawan festivities. The mother and her newborns are stable and receiving medical care at the Women’s District Hospital. The woman, identified as Neha, was carrying holy Ganga water from Haridwar and travelling towards Delhi with fellow Kanwariyas when she developed labour pains during the journey. She was reportedly separated from her companions and was travelling alone when the pain began. She was rushed to the Women’s District Hospital in Muzaffarnagar, where doctors delivered the twins.
Read Full Story Following the birth, Muzaffarnagar Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Verma and SP City Amit Jain visited the hospital to check on Neha and her babies. With the mother’s consent, Verma named the newborns Ganesh and Kartikeya. He also presented Neha with a fruit basket and gifts for the babies. “Today has become especially significant because a woman named Neha has given birth to two children at the district hospital. With her consent, we have named them Kartik and Ganesh. I saw the babies myself and they are doing well,” Verma said.
He said Neha had been carrying Ganga water from Haridwar towards Delhi when she began experiencing labour pains and reported to the district hospital. Police officials coordinated with the medical team to ensure she received immediate care. “It is a very happy occasion, particularly during the auspicious month of Sawan. She was travelling from Haridwar to Delhi for a religious purpose when she went into labour and gave birth to two children. I believe she has received Mahadev’s blessings. Har Har Mahadev,” Verma said. According to Women’s District Hospital CMS Murli Bhaskar, Neha was around seven months pregnant when she delivered the twins.
One baby weighed 1.02 kg, while the other weighed 900 grams. Both newborns were admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) after experiencing some breathing difficulties. “The two babies were admitted to the SNCU. They initially had some breathing difficulty, but they are currently stable and doing well. Both the mother and the babies are healthy,” Bhaskar said. The hospital said the twins remain under medical observation and are being cared for by the neonatal team. Ends
