A discussion on Umar Khalid's book 'Fractured Communities' sparked intense campus politics at Jawaharlal Nehru University after the auditorium booking for the event was cancelled. Hundreds of students supporting the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union gathered outside the School of Social Sciences 2 auditorium to conduct the book discussion.
During the gathering, supporters raised slogans demanding Khalid's release, such as 'Umar Khalid ko riha karo' and 'jail ke tale tootenge, saare sathi chhootenge'. Tensions escalated when members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the RSS student wing, arrived at the venue and raised counter-slogans, attempting to disrupt the JNUSU protest and book discussion before eventually leaving the site.
