Protests escalated outside the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi as students demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission examinations, alongside the cancellation of the last three JPSC exams. Led by Devendra Nath Mahto, demonstrators squatted near assembly gates after state government talks failed to resolve key demands regarding exam cancellations and the CBI investigation. Ranchi Police deployed water cannons, tear gas, and lathis to manage the crowd, while stone-pelting caused injuries to police personnel.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the police response, while Jharkhand Mukti Morcha representative Dheeraj Dubey claimed opposition parties hijacked the student agitation. Simultaneously in Parliament, Bharatiya Janata Party president and Union Minister JP Nadda accused the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi of intentionally disrupting legislative proceedings and altering political demands to avoid debate. Panels comprising political representatives debated systemic recruitment delays, paper leaks, and state responses to student demonstrations across India.
