Three men trained to mimic the grunts and hoots of langurs have been brought in as part of preparations for the BWF World Championships, in an unusual bid to prevent the monkey that gatecrashed the India Open earlier this year from making another appearance.

Along with installing anti-bird measures, they have even brought in monkey whisperers ahead of the prestigious event, which will be held from August 17 to 23. SAI executive director Ambar Pratap Singh said that the organisation is in regular contact with the MCD to ensure stray dogs and monkeys are kept away from the venue. “We have introduced double doors, an automatic closing system… now monkeys cannot enter the arena. As far as the whole campus is concerned, there can be a possibility (of stray monkeys), but we are in touch with the MCD," Ambar Pratap said.
