PM Vishwakarma initiative: Kodagu artisans trained in AI, e-commerce

The Branch MSME Development and Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO), Mangaluru, under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, organised a one-day awareness programme on branding and marketing for beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma scheme at Kushalnagar, Kodagu district, recently. The programme was conducted in association with the Kushalnagar Taluk Tailors’ Association. The programme aimed to create awareness among traditional artisans about enterprise development, branding, digital marketing, e-commerce, financial assistance, Udyam Registration, and various government support mechanisms available for strengthening and promoting their businesses.
Around 150 tailor beneficiaries, registered under the PM Vishwakarma scheme, participated in the event. Participants received practical guidance on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for business promotion, digital marketing techniques, onboarding on e-commerce platforms, QR code generation, and registration on the Udyam Portal to access benefits under various Union and State government schemes, a press release said. Presiding over the programme, Sundar Sherigar, Assistant Director and Head of Office, Branch MSME-DFO, Mangaluru, stressed the importance of adopting AI-based marketing tools and digital technologies to enhance the visibility, reach, and competitiveness of small enterprises.
He encouraged artisans to leverage digital platforms to expand their customer base and improve business prospects. Suman S. Raju, Assistant Director and programme coordinator, explained the various stages and benefits of the PM Vishwakarma scheme. She also highlighted the significance of Udyam Registration in accessing government schemes, incentives, and support available to MSMEs. Hanumatharaya, Joint Director of the District Industries Centre, Madikeri, delivered a session on the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme, explaining its key features, eligibility criteria, and application process for financial assistance to establish and expand micro enterprises.
Shaik Ahmed, president of the Kodagu District Tailors Association and Nagaraj, president of the Kushalnagar Taluk Tailors Association, also spoke.
