Tensions escalated outside the Jharkhand State Assembly in Ranchi as around 2,000 students gathered to protest against the Hemant Soren government. Protesters are demanding a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations, as well as the cancellation of the last three JPSC exams. While the government agreed to meet three out of five demands, talks failed over the key demand for an independent investigation.
Devendra Nath Mahto, who was on a hunger strike, condemned the use of force by police, stating that students were protesting peacefully. Police deployed lathis and tear gas to disperse the crowd, but students refused to move and continued squatting outside the assembly gates.
