A Class 10 student at a school in Telangana is hospitalised after allegedly being brutally assaulted by 12 fellow students inside a hostel, with his parents accusing the school management of initially telling them he had fallen down the stairs instead of informing them about the alleged attack. The student, identified as Abhishek and from Kamareddy, was allegedly assaulted at night at Sri Chaitanya High School in Dammaiguda, under the Jawahar Nagar Police Station limits in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. SCHOOL TOLD PARENTS HE HAD FALLEN DOWN STAIRS Abhishek's parents said the school management initially contacted them by phone and told them that their son had fallen down the stairs and suffered injuries. They rushed to the school and took him home. However, when his condition worsened, the family admitted him to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. According to his parents, Abhishek later told them that he had not fallen down the stairs but had allegedly been attacked by senior students in the name of ragging.
12 STUDENTS ALLEGEDLY ATTACKED HIM The parents' complaint alleges that 12 fellow students attacked Abhishek inside the school hostel at night. The students allegedly used sticks and plates to beat him and also stomped on his face with their boots. The parents approached the police after their son allegedly told them about the assault. They have demanded strict action against all those allegedly involved in the attack. PARENTS ACCUSE SCHOOL OF HIDING ASSAULT The student's parents have also raised allegations against the school management over the way the incident was handled. They alleged that the school initially described their son's injuries as the result of a fall down the stairs, rather than informing them that he had allegedly been assaulted by senior students.
The parents have accused the management of attempting to suppress the incident instead of reporting it and have sought action against those responsible.
