A statue of martyr Murali Naik, a native of Kalli Thanda in Gorantla mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district, was unveiled at Shilparamam in Puttaprthi on Monday in recognition of his sacrifice for the nation. District Collector A. Shyam Prasad and Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar jointly unveiled the statue and paid floral tributes to the martyr.
Murali Naik, Sepoy of the 851 Light Regiment, laid down his life on May 9, 2025, while bravely retaliating against the firing from the Pakistani forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The Collector said that the martyr’s courage, patriotism and sacrifice at a young age would remain an inspiration for generations, particularly the youth.
“The government will stand by the martyr’s family and extend all possible support,” the Collector said. Meanwhile, the SP said that the sacrifice of soldiers guarding the country’s borders was invaluable and that people could live safely because of their round-the-clock vigil. The people of Sri Sathya Sai district would always remember Murali Naik’s valour, he said.
Puttaparthi RDO Suvarna, district officials, Army representatives, local public representatives, Murali Naik’s parents and family members, and a large number of people, attended the programme and paid homage to the martyr.
