Amid weak monsoon conditions and deficit rainfall across South India, including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his wife performed a mega Varuna yagna at the Nagarjuna Sagar dam to seek divine intervention for rain. Over 100 priests gathered at the site to chant Veda shlokas and conduct a havan dedicated to Varuna, the god of rain.
The ritual has sparked controversy, with opposition parties questioning whether seeking intervention from the gods is the Chief Minister's strategy to tackle rainfall deficit and assist farmers.
