The earthquake struck at 7:34 am Colombia time, with the epicentre located about three miles east of San José del Palmar, Colombia, according to data from the USGS.
The 7.4-magnitude temblor was recorded near San José del Palmar, according to the agency’s initial data. The USGS said seismologists are reviewing the available information following the earthquake. The reported magnitude could be revised as more data is analysed. The agency also said additional information collected about the earthquake could lead its scientists to update the shake-severity map.
