A woman who allegedly made monthly trips from Chhattisgarh to Hyderabad to supply ganja procured from Odisha was among three persons arrested after the EAGLE Force and LB Nagar police busted an inter-state drug supply network and seized 6 kgs of the contraband worth ₹3 lakh. The arrests were made on Monday morning when the accused allegedly arrived in LB Nagar to deliver the consignment. The arrested persons were identified as Sunitha Nag, 30, Pojja Dirdo and Manchala Rajesh. Sunitha and Pojja were transporting the banned substance, while Rajesh was the alleged receiver. According to the police, Sunitha’s cousin Lakhan, a resident of Malkangiri district in Odisha, procured marijuana from cultivators in and around his village and supplied it to customers in Hyderabad.
About two years ago, he allegedly began using Sunitha to transport consignments to a customer named Satya in LB Nagar. Police said Sunitha initially travelled to Hyderabad by bus with consignments of 5 to 10 kg at a time. Later, she allegedly struck a separate arrangement with Lakhan, buying the drug at a lower price and selling it to Satya at a substantial markup. Since the beginning of this year, she allegedly purchased marijuana from Lakhan for around ₹3,500 per kg and sold it for about ₹14,000 a kg. She was reportedly making monthly trips to Hyderabad by bus to deliver the drug. Five days before the latest interception, Satya allegedly placed an order for 6 kg ganja.
Sunitha procured the consignment from Lakhan on August 9 and asked Pojja to accompany her to Hyderabad, offering him ₹500 for his assistance. The duo travelled by auto to Bhadrachalam and then boarded a bus to Hyderabad, reaching LB Nagar around 4 a.m. on Monday. After Sunitha contacted Satya, he arrived at the spot with Rajesh, Shivashankar and Satyanarayana in a Maruti XL6 to collect the consignment. The EAGLE Force and LB Nagar police intercepted the group while Sunitha and Pojja were handing over the marijuana. While Satyanarayana alias Satya alias Satti managed to escape, Rajesh was apprehended. Police said preliminary investigation and technical analysis revealed links to consumers in Vangur and Kalwakurthy.
Six consumers have so far been identified and investigators are working to establish the wider network, trace financial transactions and identify additional suppliers and consumers. Pojja had allegedly been arrested by Raipur police in 2025 after being found with 10 kg of marijuana at Raipur bus stand in a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. A case has been registered at LB Nagar police station under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. Lakhan, Satyanarayana, Mallesh and Shivashankar are absconding, police said.
