Man arrested for raping woman, cheating her of Rs 10 lakh on marriage promise

A TCS employee in Madhya Pradesh has accused a Dewas man of concealing his identity, promising to marry her, raping her and later blackmailing her with private photos and videos. She has also alleged that he took between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 10 lakh from her and threatened her and her family. The accused, identified as Shahrukh Baig alias Mahendra Chandravat, has been arrested after Rajput Karni Sena workers handed him over to the police in Dewas. Read Full Story Based on the woman's complaint, Dewas Central Kotwali police registered a case under sections related to rape, blackmail and cheating before arresting the accused. The woman, who works at TCS in a senior-level position, spoke to reporters in Indore and sought strict action against the accused.
FIRST MEETING AT A RESTAURANT IN PUNE According to the woman's account, she first met the accused at a restaurant in Pune. She said he introduced himself as Mahendra Chandravat and claimed to be from Dewas. The woman alleged that he told her he was involved in e-commerce, property and several other businesses. Their conversations continued and, according to her, the accused later proposed marriage. She said she rejected the proposal, but the two remained friends. The woman alleged that he subsequently took her to his house in Dewas. RAPE ALLEGATION AT DEWAS HOUSE The woman alleged that no one else was present at the house when she visited and that the accused had sexual relations with her against her wishes.
She further claimed that she later discovered what she described as his real identity and learnt that he was Muslim. According to her allegation, Shahrukh Baig then began threatening and blackmailing her using her private photographs and videos. She alleged that he subsequently took around Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh from her through different means. ALLEGATIONS OF LOANS AND PHONE PURCHASES The woman also alleged that the accused took several loans and mobile phones in her name. She claimed that she is still paying the EMIs for those loans. She further alleged that two of her bank accounts were frozen because of transactions allegedly linked to the accused and suspected money laundering. The woman also accused him of threatening to kill her and her family.
She claimed that her brother was threatened as well. ACCUSED HANDED OVER TO POLICE Rajput Karni Sena workers in Indore reportedly caught Shahrukh Baig and handed him over to Central Kotwali police in Dewas. Police then registered a case on the woman's complaint under sections related to rape, blackmail and other offences before arresting him. Rajput Karni Sena state president Sahendra Singh Dikhit has also spoken about the case. The police investigation will examine the woman's allegations, the alleged financial transactions, the use of private photographs and videos for blackmail and the accused's identity. The woman has sought an impartial investigation and strict action against the accused. Ends
