A major student protest unfolded in Ranchi, Jharkhand, as students marched towards the state assembly over alleged irregularities in state Public Service Examinations and JSSC exams. Demonstrators breached police barricades, with some climbing onto vehicles and trees as security personnel attempted to manage the crowd. Senior police officials confirmed that water cannons, tear gas, and minor force were deployed to regain control after barricades were broken and minor stone-pelting occurred.
Administration officials reported that four to five protesters sustained minor injuries and were dispatched to the hospital via ambulance. Student representatives maintained that their protest remains peaceful and constitutional, blaming anti-social elements for attempting to derail the movement, and appealed to the state government for a resolution. Demonstrators highlighted systemic corruption, alleging that merit is compromised in state examinations. On the ground, police demonstrated restraint to avoid excessive force, while reporters noted a deadlock requiring an official government statement to end the agitation.
