A massive student protest erupted outside the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly in Ranchi as thousands gathered to demand a Central Bureau of Investigation probe and the cancellation of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission examination. Protesters attempted to breach multi-layered barricades and enter the Assembly premises, prompting security personnel to deploy water cannons to disperse the crowd. The agitation, which had remained largely peaceful, escalated due to growing dissatisfaction with the state government's response, despite the recent cancellation of select competitive examinations.
Protesting aspirants emphasized that partial concessions were insufficient and demanded immediate fulfillment of their primary demands without further dialogue. A key student representative on an ongoing hunger strike appealed for calm while criticizing government measures, warning against potential chaotic outcomes on the Chief Minister's birthday. A petition seeking judicial intervention and a central agency inquiry has also been submitted to the Supreme Court as students continue their demonstration.
