Protesting students in Jharkhand scaled barricades and stormed into the Vidhan Sabha premises while the monsoon session was underway. The demonstrators reached within two hundred metres of the assembly building, taking an alternate route used by MLAs and ministers. Despite breaching the VVIP security zone guarded by Jharkhand Police and CRPF personnel, the demonstration remained strictly peaceful, with students sitting down, chanting slogans, and singing local songs to press their demands.
The primary demand of the agitators is the immediate cancellation of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination over allegations of paper leaks and financial irregularities. In response, official sources indicated the government's inability to directly cancel the exam as it was conducted under High Court and Supreme Court directives. However, the administration expressed readiness to set up a retired judge-led committee to investigate specific allegations and involve the Enforcement Directorate to probe potential money trails and kickbacks involving former officials.
