The students are also demanding a CBI probe into alleged irregularities surrounding the examination. Students Reject Judicial Probe: The government proposed a judicial inquiry headed by a retired judge into the CGL controversy but the students have rejected the proposal and continue to demand a CBI investigation. This remains the biggest point of disagreement between the two sides. Security Tightened Across Ranchi: The administration has made extensive security arrangements ahead of the Assembly gherao. Around 1,500 security personnel have been deployed, including personnel from the Rapid Action Police, Indian Reserve Battalion, district police and Quick Reaction Teams. The area will also be monitored through drones, while a special team has been deployed at the Police Control Room to keep track of the situation. Prohibitory Orders Within 750 Metres Of New Assembly: Prohibitory orders have been imposed within a 750-metre radius of the New Assembly.
The administration urged students to avoid violence and not participate in any unlawful demonstration. Barricades have also been installed at several points along the route from the Old Assembly to the New Assembly. Schools Declare Holiday Amid Protest: Several schools in Ranchi declared a holiday ahead of the planned student protest and the security arrangements around the Assembly. The move comes as authorities prepare for possible disruption because of the large gathering and restrictions imposed in the area. Government Agrees To Cancel Three JPSC Exams: The Hemant Soren government agreed to consider cancellation of the 14th JPSC examination, JPSC Backlog 2023 and JPSC Backlog 2025 exams. The government maintained that a large majority of the students’ demands have been accepted. CID, ED Probes And Fast-Track Court Proposed: The government has agreed to a CID investigation into examinations conducted by the TDPL agency. An ED probe has also been proposed if financial irregularities are detected, while a fast-track court has been proposed to deal with cases linked to the alleged irregularities. 19 Arrested So Far The investigation into alleged irregularities in the 14th JPSC preliminary examination results is continuing.
