Jharkhand Students’ Assembly March: Students protesting against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) have called for a march to the Jharkhand Assembly on Monday. The protest entered its 16th day on Sunday, with six students currently on hunger strike. The protesters have alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations and claimed that police are forcibly stopping hundreds of students travelling to Ranchi from different parts of Jharkhand. Heavy Security Deployment In Ranchi The police administration has been put on alert ahead of the proposed Assembly march, with extensive security arrangements being made across Ranchi.
ADG Headquarters Manoj Kaushik said all necessary measures were being taken in view of the possibility of students attempting to surround the Assembly. He appealed to the protesters to maintain the same peaceful and disciplined approach they have followed during the past two weeks. Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan said maintaining law and order during the march was everyone’s responsibility. He also said that no student’s career should be affected by any deterioration in the law and order situation. Barricades Put Up At Key Locations Police have erected barricades at important locations across Ranchi, particularly along routes leading towards the Assembly. Adequate police personnel have also been deployed at strategic points to prevent any disruption during the demonstration, as reported by Amar Ujala. The district administration has appealed to students to avoid aggressive forms of protest and warned against violence or any unlawful activity during the Assembly march. Prohibitory Orders Within 750 Metres Of Assembly Prohibitory orders have been imposed within a 750-metre radius of the Jharkhand Assembly building. The restrictions will remain in force from August 6 to August 12, between 6 am and 10 pm.
