(Representational) A 31-year-old runner died after collapsing during a monsoon marathon at Nandi Hills on Sunday morning. He is suspected to have suffered a cardiac arrest. The deceased, Amandeep Singh Jagade, was a native of Punjab and was working for a private company in Bengaluru. The marathon featured 10-km and 21-km categories and had more than 4,500 participants. Amandeep was participating in the 21-km run when he collapsed while descending the hill at around 9:10 am.
He had completed about half of the route at the time. He was rushed to Sri Madhusudhan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Hospital in Muddenahalli, where doctors attempted to revive him. However, he was declared dead. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and taken up an investigation.
