(IMAGE: AFP FILE) The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) on Sunday released the Rawalakot Declaration, condemning what it described as state violence during the Muzaffarabad Long March and vowing to continue its movement for basic rights.

The Joint Action Committee saluted what it described as the peaceful struggle of Kashmiris and said it would continue the movement for its demands, including complete self-governance and ownership rights. The Pakistan-occupied Kashmir-based (PoK) outfit also paid tribute to deceased protesters and condemned what it called the filing of “fake cases" and the arrest of women. It appealed to the global community against what it described as state aggression. The committee has also called for a boycott of the August 10 PoK polls, urging people in the Poonch Division to reject the elections.

It has demanded an interim government. The JKJAAC also applauded traders and transporters for their sacrifices during the movement and urged them to prepare for future “wheel-jam" and “shutter-down" strikes. The committee thanked international media and human rights organisations for what it described as exposing violence against peaceful civilians. The JKJAAC has scheduled massive nationwide peaceful protests and sit-ins for August 13 against what it described as “state terrorism". The committee said a new JKJAAC declaration is expected on August 13.
