Srikakulam Intellectual Forum president and retired Sessions Judge Pappala Jagannadha Rao on Sunday urged the State government, consumer forums and other organisations to give wide publicity about the submission of petitions through online and get justice from the Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC) and its State and district level bodies.
He said that consumers were being cheated with inferior quality products, misleading, improper services from e-commerce portals and shops and establishments. He attended as the chief guest for an awareness programme on consumer rights-opportunities for quick submissions of petitions held in Narayana Tirumala temple premises of Srikakulam.
He said that the people who felt cheated by companies and others can send their grievances to Commission’s mail ID ‘consumerhelpline.gov.in‘ and know about the status within a few days. He said that the people can send SMSes to 8800001915 and make a phone call to Call Center-1915.
Rao urged the Union government to appoint Regional Commissions since it was assured during the enactment of The Consumer Protection Act-2019.
