(Representative image) A 17-year-old boy was allegedly shot dead by a security guard who mistook him for a thief, in Ghaziabad on Saturday. It is learnt that the boy, identified as Sameer, had entered the premises to shoot a reel. The incident took place inside Parshvnath building, which falls under the jurisdiction of Sahibabad police station.

A resident of the Sahibabad area, Sameer was struck by the bullet in the stomach. The building, where the incident took place, is currently under construction and a security guard was deployed there. Victim’s Family Alleges Assault The victim’s family alleged that the guard and his aides assaulted the teenager. Soon after the incident, police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Meanwhile, the accused guard and his associates have been detained. The incident took place in the Sahibabad police station. According to police, the guard said the deceased youth had come to carry out a theft. According to a report in India Today, the teen was rushed to MMG Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The licensed firearm used in the incident has also been seized by the police.

Boy Shot Dead On Suspicion Of Theft According to reports, guard Vivek Yadav noticed Sameer entering the premises and suspected that he had come there with the intention of stealing. Acting on the suspicion, Yadav allegedly opened fire, with the bullet hitting Sameer in the abdomen. Police said the teenager’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, while efforts are underway to register a case based on a complaint from his family. Police are also investigating the circumstances that led the guard to open fire and whether there was any basis for suspecting Sameer of theft or whether the shooting was carried out solely on suspicion. ACP Sahibabad Amit Saxena said the guard has been taken into custody and an investigation is underway. Police said further action will be taken after examining all aspects of the case.
