(Photo: PTI file) The Jharkhand government has agreed to consider cancelling three recruitment examinations, the 14th JPSC exam, JPSC Backlog 2023 and JPSC Backlog 2025, student leader Ravindra Paswan said after the second round of talks with government representatives. Paswan said the government has also proposed CID and ED investigations into examinations conducted by the TDPL agency.

He added that most of the students’ demands related to recruitment reforms had been accepted, although some issues remain unresolved. “This was the second round of talks with the government delegation. Regarding the specifics, specifically the 14th JPSC, JPSC Backlog 2023, and JPSC Backlog 2025 exams, the government has decided to consider cancelling all three. According to Paswan, the government has agreed to have the CID investigate examinations conducted by the TDPL agency, while the ED could also be brought in if financial irregularities are detected. He said the government had accepted most of the demands concerning reforms in the recruitment process. However, there was no consensus on certain issues, including age relaxation. Students Continue To Demand CBI Probe Into CGL The CGL examination remains the main point of disagreement between the government and protesting students. Paswan said the students had sought a CBI investigation into the examination, but the government did not agree to the demand.

Instead, it proposed a judicial inquiry headed by a retired judge. “Regarding the CGL exam, the students demanded a CBI inquiry; however, the government did not agree to this," Paswan said. He added, “Instead, the government stated that a judicial inquiry would be conducted under the chairmanship of a retired judge, and if financial irregularities are detected, the ED would also be involved." Despite the government’s proposals, the students have decided to continue their agitation and maintain their demand for a CBI probe into the CGL examination. “Nevertheless, we students continue to demand a CBI inquiry," Paswan said. Making it clear that the protest is not over, he added, “The agitation will continue; the agitation is still ongoing." Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Seeks Students’ Suggestions To Reform Recruitment Exams Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has launched a “Students’ Voice, With Students" initiative, seeking suggestions from young people on improving the state’s examination and recruitment system. In a message to students, Soren said the government wants to make exams more transparent, technology driven, secure and fair.
