Actor Yash has finally addressed the repeated reports claiming that Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was shelved, calling such speculation a common occurrence surrounding big-budget films. Speaking at the film’s trailer launch in Bengaluru on August 8, the actor questioned the source of such reports and opened up about the challenges involved in mounting a large-scale production. “Nowadays, I see this a lot. Every time a big film starts, there'll be news of it being shelved on the 10th day or 20th day! I don't know from where they write these stories. It's not easy for producers or actors or directors. First of all, making a film is like going to war against the whole world!” Yash said. Read Full Story The actor went on to explain that making a film involving a large cast and crew comes with several uncertainties, including actors’ availability and constantly changing schedules.
“After all, you don't know what the mood of the actor would be that day or whether they would have sufficient dates. There'll be so many issues," he added. However, Yash believes Toxic came together because everyone involved put their individual egos aside and remained committed to a shared vision. He said the team’s collective focus was on taking Indian cinema to a global audience. “This film has happened because all these lovely, talented, successful people have kept their egos aside, kept other things aside, and they’ve just come with one cause, to put Indian film on a global platform,” he said. The film was earlier slated to release in theatres on March 19, coinciding with Dhurandhar: The Revenge release. It was then pushed due to June 4 because of concerns surrounding its overseas rollout during the Middle East tensions.
The film was then delayed beyond June 4 to now August 26. The Kannada actor also praised Toxic producer Venkat K Narayana for standing firmly by the project despite the speculation surrounding its production. He revealed that the team had spent 200 days shooting the film and had filmed two versions with its ensemble cast. “Yet, my partner and producer has never questioned us. We have shot for 200 days. We started on August 8 two years ago. We have shot two versions with all these talented and lovely actors. They have given their time and everything. They were so dedicated,” Yash said. "So all the rumours used to surface. This man stood like a rock. You can see that every money we have spent can be seen on screen,” he concluded.
