Air India has responded to reports regarding a post-flight dope test conducted on pilots of a Phuket to Delhi flight, stating that screening was conducted per applicable protocols but official findings have not been shared with the airline. The airline clarified that it undertakes regular drug testing for crew members in compliance with civil aviation regulations, independent of operational incidents, and is fully cooperating with authorities. The aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, is investigating the incident involving a sudden 300-foot drop in altitude during the flight.
Regulators have taken custody of the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder to analyze flight data and cockpit communications. Meanwhile, a pilots' body stated that official test reports have not been received and refrained from commenting further. The probe currently remains under the oversight of aviation regulators to evaluate all operational aspects and flight safety compliance.
