In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, Tamil Nadu MPs decided to oppose the proposed Delimitation Bill, calling it an injustice to the state. The TVK government accused the Centre of attempting a backdoor route to conduct elections. Participating parties, including Congress, demanded freezing Parliamentary representation at 543 seats to preserve state rights.
However, the DMK and AIADMK opted out of the meeting. The DMK questioned the necessity of the meet, accusing TVK of diversion politics, but noted it would study the bill before finalizing its stance. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Tiruvannamalai to offer prayers at local temples.
