The three accused were eventually detained on Friday, police said. (X/@mathurapolice) A woman allegedly killed her husband after sedating him and crushing his head with a stone, with the help of her daughter and the daughter’s boyfriend in Mathura, a senior police official said on Saturday. The accused allegedly disposed of the body in a forest area along the Yamuna, but police have been unable to recover it despite searching for the past three days. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar said the three accused are being interrogated, while teams have been searching for the body since Thursday night.
Govind Nagar police station SHO Ajay Verma said Rambabu, a resident of Radh-Krishna Vatika in Jaysinghpura, filed a complaint. He alleged that his younger brother, Manoj Soni, 42, was killed by Manoj’s wife Naina, 40, their younger daughter Bhakti, whose age has not been disclosed, and Bhakti’s alleged boyfriend Vimal Chaudhary, 22. According to the complaint, the accused told family members that they had burned Manoj’s body in a forest near Akrur village on the banks of the Yamuna before burying the remains there. The complainant said Manoj had previously seen his daughter with her alleged boyfriend and strongly opposed their relationship. Following an argument with his wife over the matter, Manoj left home. Manoj went missing on April 18. Naina subsequently filed a missing person report on April 21 but withdrew it the following day without giving a reason, police said. Three weeks passed without any information about Manoj, following which his elder brother Rambabu filed a missing person complaint on May 9.
After police failed to make progress for an extended period, Rambabu approached the chief minister’s portal with another complaint. Following directions from the SSP, police registered a complaint on July 11. The three accused were eventually detained on Friday, police said. Search operations are continuing to locate Manoj’s remains. Police have dug at several locations in the forest over the past three days but have not recovered the body because the accused were unable to identify the precise spot where the remains were buried. Continuous rainfall has also made the search operation more difficult. Rambabu said Naina had gone to her parental home in Hathras with her daughter. Her father, Brajmohan, noticed that Naina appeared largely unconcerned about her husband’s disappearance and questioned her firmly. She subsequently confessed to the alleged killing, he said. According to the confession, Naina gave Manoj milk mixed with sedatives. After he became unconscious, she allegedly crushed his head with a stone, while Bhakti and Vimal assisted her.
