The movement of the equipment raised concerns because Greenland has not granted the company permission to begin drilling. The Greenland government said that no such approval had been given, asserting, “All future logistical matters must be advised and approved by the mineral resources authority – before they are carried out." Why Is The US Company In Greenland? Greenland Energy is reportedly preparing to acquire a majority stake in an oil exploration project in Jameson Land. The project is currently held by British company 80 Mile, which has exploration rights in the region.
According to corporate filings cited by The Guardian, Greenland Energy plans to take a majority stake in exchange for financing the oil exploration.
