As part of the ongoing West Asia war, United States Central Command (US CENTCOM) has enforced a blockade against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz. As of August 8, CENTCOM has redirected 53 commercial vessels, disabled two, and boarded two ships. Meanwhile, the US military has permitted over 30 ships to pass through the blockade to deliver humanitarian aid.
On the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, US sailors conducted maintenance on F/A-18E Super Hornets to ensure carrier strike group assets remain mission-ready for enforcing the blockade.
