The Centre on Saturday notified the appointment of 30 judges across four High Courts, with the Madras High Court receiving the largest share of new appointees as part of an effort to strengthen judicial capacity and reduce case pendency. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, the appointments include 20 advocates and 10 judicial officers. Of the total, 15 judges have been appointed to the Madras High Court, eight to the Calcutta High Court, six to the Karnataka High Court and one to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
The appointments were made by the President in consultation with the Chief Justice of India and the Supreme Court Collegium. The newly appointed permanent judges are advocates Krishnaswamy Govindarajan, Rajnish Pathiyil, Natarajan Ramesh, GK Muthukumaar and Ramakrishnan Rajesh Vivekananthan. Additional judges appointed from the Bar include Sankaranarayanan Raveekumar, Nagarajan Dilip Kumar and Ellappan Manoharan. Among judicial officers elevated as additional judges are Dr. P Murugan, MD Sumathi, S Alli, C Thirumagal Chandrasekar, Shanmugam Karthikeyan, Baluchamy Murugesan Gunasekaran.
EIGHT JUDGES APPOINTED TO CALCUTTA HIGH COURT The eight new additional judges appointed to the Calcutta High Court are advocates Aryak Dutta, Atarup Banerjee, Sandeep Kumar Dey, Partha Pratim Roy, Sudip Deb, Anuj Singh, Arjun Ray Mukherjee and Rishad Medora. SIX NEW JUDGES FOR KARNATAKA HIGH COURT The Karnataka High Court has received six additional judges from the Bar. They are Raghavendra S Srivatsa, Hema Kulkarni, Subramanya Rangarao, Tadagavadi Prakash Vivekananda, Pramod Bakkeshwar and Shanti Bhushan Hombegowda. ONE APPOINTMENT TO MADHYA PRADESH HIGH COURT Senior advocate Amit Lahoti has been appointed as an additional judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
The newly appointed judges are expected to take oath and assume office in the coming days. The appointments are expected to help fill vacancies in the four High Courts and improve the disposal of pending cases. Ends
