Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Gyan Tiwari has filed a police complaint alleging that his daughter was married into a family that cheated them by hiding its background. He alleged that his son-in-law, Prakhar Trivedi, used fake identities to dupe several women in different states and had been involved in around 25 marriages. Police said an FIR has been registered in the case and Anuj Trivedi and his son Prakhar Trivedi have been arrested. The allegations were also made by the Sevata MLA in a social media video posted on August 6 with his daughter.
Read Full Story According to the complaint lodged at Reusa police station, Tiwari's daughter Pragya married Prakhar Trivedi, son of Anuj Trivedi, a resident of Chandrawal in Mishrikh, in 2024. Tiwari alleged that at the time of the marriage, Anuj Trivedi presented himself as a prominent real estate businessman based in Mumbai and concealed his alleged criminal history and earlier cases. The complaint said the match was finalised after local inquiries and positive feedback from people considered influential in the area. However, around two-and-a-half years after the marriage, the family came across information through social media and other sources about Prakhar Trivedi's alleged activities.
Tiwari alleged that Prakhar had cheated several women in states including Maharashtra of crores of rupees by luring them into relationships while using fake identities. He also alleged that Prakhar had been involved in about 25 marriages. The MLA said he had cut all social and personal ties with the accused family and brought his daughter back home. He alleged that the relationship had caused deep trauma to his family and affected his social image as a public representative. Police officials said Reusa police registered a cheating case against Anuj Trivedi on the MLA's complaint and began legal proceedings.
In his social media video, Tiwari said his family had been cheated and demanded strict punishment, including the death penalty, for Anuj Trivedi. He also said that if his son-in-law was found guilty, he should face severe punishment under the law. The case centres on the MLA's allegation that his family was misled into the marriage by false claims and concealed details, after which police registered a case and arrested the father and son. Ends
