Over 100 educators from across India gathered in Mumbai on Saturday (August 8, 2026) to brainstorm about primary yearsâ education, to share their learnings and experiences, and to discuss their creative experiments. âAt the crux of it all was a shared pursuit â solutions to grappling questions, exchange of best practices, and the new curricular enhancements for the primary yearsâ programme,â said Meena Saldanha, principal of Don Bosco International School, which hosted participants from 65 schools.
The Pan-India IB PYP (Primary Years Programme) Coordinators and IB Heads Meet is an annual gathering for International Baccalaureate educators, program coordinators, and school heads across India and South Asia. It serves as a collaborative platform to share best practices, discuss curriculum developments, and network. This was the first year that the event was held in Mumbai. Its theme was âStronger Together, The Power of Collaborationâ.
104 participants including 89 PYP co-ordinators and 15 heads of schools participated in the one-day event. They represented 65 schools. The sessions ranged from inquiry learning progressions to play, purpose and possibilities, to the power of we, moving from new teaching models to best educational practices and technology integration. The participants shared experiences which had brought about changes in studentsâ learning behaviour, and how these could be replicated.
Participants said that the annual meeting gave them the opportunity to reflect on our own progress and development. It helped them learn from other coordinators, refresh their own ideas, and reflect on their teaching methodology, they said.
