Replace DGCA With Autonomous Body: Federation Of Indian Pilots Writes To PM Modi
The Federation of Indian Pilots has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, proposing the establishment of an autonomous Civil Aviation Authority to replace the Directorate
The Federation of Indian Pilots has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, proposing the establishment of an autonomous Civil Aviation Authority to replace the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The pilots' body cited the rapid growth of India's aviation sector, along with concerns raised by the International Civil Aviation Organization and parliamentary committees, to support the proposal.
A similar bill introduced in 2013 lapsed, leaving regulation under the Ministry of Civil Aviation via the DGCA. FIP argues that the current regulator lacks the bandwidth, technical experts, and true autonomy required to manage the expanding aviation sector.
